Who we are

Minuet is made by Mishmapps LLC ("Mishmapps," "we," "us"), trading as Mishmapps.

What Minuet is. Minuet is a metronome and chromatic tuner for iPhone and iPad. It is a practice tool for musicians of any age and any level — students, amateurs, teachers, and professionals — covering tempo, pitch, and a private record of your own practice. It is a general-purpose musical instrument accessory, not a children's product, a social network, or a service you hold an account with.

What this policy covers. This policy applies to the Minuet app. It is published at playminuet.com, which is a static informational site: the website itself uses no analytics, no cookies, and no tracking of any kind, and collects nothing about visitors.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, and have no way to collect:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
• Your date of birth or age
• Your contacts, photos, calendar, or location
• Recordings of your playing or singing — the takes you choose to record are saved on your device and are never sent to us
• Any advertising identifier (Minuet does not request IDFA and does not participate in ad tracking)

Minuet has no user accounts. There is nothing to sign into and nothing for us to look up about you.

The microphone

Minuet uses the microphone for two things, and nothing else.

Tuning. To detect the pitch you are playing, audio is held only in a short in-memory buffer — a fraction of a second — while its frequency is measured. The buffer is continuously overwritten, and nothing is ever written to storage or transmitted off your device.

Recording takes. Only when you press record. The recording is saved on your device and nowhere else — it is never uploaded, never sent to us, and never analysed by anyone. It leaves your device only if you choose to share it yourself.

Your control. iOS asks your permission the first time a feature needs the microphone. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Minuet → Microphone. The metronome, your pieces, and your practice record all keep working without it; tuning and recording stop.

What stays on your device

The following is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad and is not uploaded, backed up to our servers, or visible to us:

• Pieces you create, including names, notes, target tempo, meter, subdivision, and working tempo
• Your practice record — dates, durations, piece names, and tempo ranges
• Recordings (takes) you choose to make
• Metronome and tuner settings
• Which skins you have unlocked

If your device backs itself up to iCloud, this data may be included in that backup. That backup is between you and Apple; it is encrypted under your Apple Account and we have no access to it.

Deleting Minuet deletes this data. There is no copy elsewhere, so please be aware that removing the app removes your practice history and your recordings permanently.

Purchases

Skins are bought through Apple's In-App Purchase system.

Apple handles the entire transaction. We never see and never receive your payment card, billing address, or Apple Account details. What reaches Minuet is a receipt confirming that a purchase completed, which the app uses to unlock the skin and to restore it if you reinstall or move to a new device.

Usage data

To understand which parts of Minuet get used, we collect a limited set of anonymous usage data using PostHog, an analytics provider.

What is collected:

Events

Which screens are opened and which features are used — for example, that a tempo ramp was started, not what tempo you chose for which piece

Device

Model, iOS version, and Minuet version

Identifier

A random identifier generated on first launch, used to tell one installation from another

We do not collect your location or region, and this usage data contains no crash or error reports.

Crashes reach us only through Apple's own crash reporting system, which you control in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Apple anonymizes crash reports before we see them; nothing about a crash is sent to our analytics provider.

What is not collected: your name, email, any account, the contents of your pieces or notes, your practice history, any audio, any advertising identifier, and any screen or session recording. Session replay is disabled.

IP addresses are not stored. Your device's network address reaches our analytics provider as part of any internet request, is discarded on arrival, and is never stored. We do not derive your location or region from it.

Why. To understand which features matter and decide what to build next. Under GDPR, our legal basis is legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app; the data is limited to what serves that purpose.

About the identifier. It is a random string tied to an installation, not to a person. It does not follow you to other apps or websites and cannot be used to identify you. We still treat it as personal data under GDPR, which is why it is described here rather than glossed over.

Where it goes. PostHog processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and does not use it for its own purposes. Data is stored in the United States, on PostHog's US cloud, and is retained under PostHog's standard retention policy for up to seven years, after which it is deleted. The identifier attached to it is random and is never connected to a name, email, or account, so the data does not become more identifying with time — but if you would rather it not exist at all, the switch below stops collection entirely.

Opting out. You can turn this off at any time in Custom → Settings → Share anonymous usage data. Switching it off stops collection immediately; a small number of events recorded just before you switched off may still be delivered shortly afterwards, and nothing new is collected while it is off. Minuet works identically either way.

Who we share data with

Nobody, beyond what is described above.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use data brokers, ad networks, or attribution SDKs. We have no advertising business of any kind.

We would disclose data only if legally compelled to — and given how little exists, there is very little that could be produced.

Children and young people

Minuet is a general-audience tool for musicians. It is not directed to children, is not listed in the App Store Kids Category, and is not designed or marketed for children under 13.

That said, we know students of school age use metronomes, and we have built accordingly:

• There is no account, no profile, and no way to enter a name or age
• There is no messaging, no social feed, and no contact between users
• There is no advertising and no ad tracking
• Nothing a student writes into a piece or practice record — and no recording they make — ever leaves the device

Your rights

Because we hold no information that identifies you, there is usually nothing for us to look up, correct, or hand over. Your data is in your hands: it is on your device, and deleting the app deletes it.

For the anonymous diagnostic data described above:

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

If you are in California, the CCPA gives you rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not discriminate against anyone who exercises these rights.

To exercise any of these, contact support@playminuet.com. Please note that we may be unable to link diagnostic data to you specifically, since it is not associated with any identity — where that is the case we will say so rather than guess.

International transfers

If you use Minuet outside the country where our diagnostic data is processed, that data crosses a border. Where the transfer leaves the UK or EEA, it is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses in our agreement with PostHog.

Security

Diagnostic data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Data on your device is protected by iOS itself and by your device passcode. No system is perfect, but the strongest protection here is structural: there is almost nothing stored off your device to lose.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and note the change in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Minuet after a change means you accept the revised policy.
